Tribological Performance Evaluation of Blended Lubricants Incorporated with Organic Polymer

Eco-friendly lubricants have drawn a lot of interest in the lubrication industry as way promoting global sustainability response to growing environmental pollution danger posed by use petroleum-based lubricants. As result these, developing with organic additives stands promising technique solving challenges caused non-degradable materials. This research investigates effect bio-based water hyacinth (Eichhornia crassipes) (EC) carboxylmethyl cellulose (CMC) polymer different base well under volumetric blend determine their compatibility on lowering friction and wear using rapeseed oil (BRO) mineral (MO) lubricant sample. High frequency reciprocating rig tribo-tester machine was used experiment, followed substrate surface analysis via energy dispersive x-ray spectroscopy. The were evaluated for potential improve tribology terms friction, roughness reduction, load-carrying capacity, mechanism repair. Testing additive concentrations, produced recommendable at 0.8 mass% EC-CMC. best performance obtained when BRO70/MO30 blended When compared BRO MO 80 N, reduced coefficient scar diameter 44%, 32%, 33%, 21% respectively. However, it shown that nanoparticles had greater tribological higher working capacities owing rapid active tribo-film formation.
